Privacy Policy — Odoo Office Attachment Preview

Odoo Office Attachment Preview (the “Extension”) lets users preview supported modern Office documents, text-based attachments, structured data, and log files inside Odoo Chatter. The Extension is a Tarmez Al-Arabiya product that works with Odoo. It is not developed, endorsed, or distributed by Odoo S.A. Odoo and its logo are trademarks of their respective owner.

1. Scope

This policy explains what information the Extension handles, why it is needed, where it is processed, how long it is retained, and the controls available to users. It applies only to the Extension and not to Odoo instances, websites, or support and social-media services opened by the user.

2. Information handled by the Extension

The Extension handles only the information needed to provide its attachment-preview feature:

  • Website content: the supported document or text attachment selected by the user, its filename, file type, and Odoo attachment URL. A selected file may itself contain user-generated content, personal communications, or other information placed in that file by its owner.
  • Browsing information required for the feature: the origin of the active Odoo website and the selected attachment URL. The active origin is used to let the user grant or revoke preview access for that specific website.
  • Local preferences: enabled Odoo origins, the date each origin was enabled, the interface theme preference, per-format preview zoom, and text-view, source-view, and line-wrapping preferences.
  • Language information: the Odoo or browser interface language used to choose the Extension’s Arabic or English interface. The Extension does not create a language profile.

The Extension uses the browser’s existing authenticated Odoo session to request the selected attachment. It does not read, copy, or store the value of the user’s Odoo password or authentication cookies.

3. How information is used

Information is used only to identify supported attachments, display a file after the user chooses to preview it, remember enabled Odoo origins and display preferences, and provide local search, navigation, copy, and print features. The Extension does not use information for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, analytics, or purposes unrelated to attachment preview.

4. Processing and transmission

Document rendering, search, navigation, and printing are performed locally in the user’s browser. The selected attachment is requested directly from the user-selected Odoo origin using the browser’s current session. The Extension does not upload documents, attachment URLs, Odoo origins, or extracted document content to Tarmez Al-Arabiya, an external document viewer, an analytics provider, or any other third party.

The Extension contains no analytics, advertising SDK, telemetry, or remote executable code. Support, website, email, WhatsApp, and social-media links are contacted only when the user selects a link. The Extension does not append document data, attachment URLs, or Odoo-site information to those destinations.

5. Local storage and retention

Enabled Odoo origins and activation dates, the System/Light/Dark theme preference, per-format zoom levels, and text display preferences remain in the browser’s local extension storage until the user changes them or uninstalls the Extension. Attachment bytes and URLs are held in browser memory only while the preview is open and are released when the preview closes, the tab closes, or the Extension is unloaded. Preview-only theme overrides are not retained.

6. User controls and deletion

Users can enable or disable the current Odoo origin from the popup, review and remove origins from Manage allowed sites, revoke access through the browser’s extension settings, or remove the Extension to clear its local storage. Removing an origin deletes its saved entry and requests that the browser revoke the matching site permission.

7. Data sharing and sale

Tarmez Al-Arabiya does not receive, sell, rent, disclose, or share document contents, Odoo origins, attachment URLs, browsing activity, preferences, or personal data handled by the Extension. No human at Tarmez Al-Arabiya can view a previewed document through the Extension.

8. Security

All executable code and document-rendering dependencies are packaged with the Extension. The Extension does not execute macros, scripts, raw Markdown HTML, XML document type declarations or external entities, embedded OLE applications, PowerPoint transitions, presentation audio or video, or external document resources. External document links are limited to HTTP, HTTPS, and email links and require user confirmation before opening. Users are responsible for the security of their Odoo instance and network connection; Tarmez Al-Arabiya recommends HTTPS for every Odoo site.

9. Browser store data-use requirements

The Extension’s use of information obtained through browser extension APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements, and the Mozilla Add-on Policies. Information is used only to provide or improve the Extension’s single purpose, is not used for personalized advertising, is not transferred for unrelated purposes, and is not made available for human reading except where the user independently chooses to provide specific information when requesting support.

10. Children’s privacy

The Extension is intended for business use with Odoo and is not directed to children. Tarmez Al-Arabiya does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Extension.

11. Changes to this policy

Tarmez Al-Arabiya may update this policy if the Extension’s functionality or data practices change. The “Last updated” date will identify the current version. Material changes will be reflected in the applicable browser-store listing or Extension interface where required.
